A Bird's Eye View ~ Stacey

The view out my window - check out the guy
in mid-air on the bottom left.

My bird feeders hang right outside my writing window and for the first time we have a cardinal hanging around. Of course, I had to grab the new camera I got in December and snap some pictures.

Picture Perfect

Oops...I think he's on to me.

"Who you lookin' at?"

Chickadee's are one of my favorites...they're just so cute!

Coming in for landing.

And then we have...
The Poser
While most birds fly in, grab their seeds, and fly back out, this little guy sat on his perch for almost two minutes, turning this way and that as I snapped away.

Now, I can't take credit for these last pictures but they're cool so I thought I'd share. There are a pair of Pheasants that hang out behind the garage and my hubby Wayne was happy to have caught them before they took off. (Um...because I came home and beeped the horn before I realized he was stalking his subjects.)

"You hear that George?"
"Hear what, Fred?"
"That clicking noise. I swear, someone's watching us."

"I told you someone was watching us!
I'm outta here!"

So that's it for bird watching from the Netzel's. Hope you enjoyed the pictures and have a wonderful week!

Stacey

  2. Beautiful view! And wonderful pictures. I love the little guys too. The blue jays are the most amusing. The daddy comes by every morning to see if the feeders have been filled and if so, he screeches for the rest of his family to come join him. And boy is he loud. LOL.

    1. Thanks, Jennifer. Good for your blue jay daddy, taking care of his family like that. :) The Blue Jays used to dive-bomb our cats when I was growing up. We get the occasional one here now, but not often.

  3. Great pictures, Stacey. We have some birds that enjoy picking apart the grapevine I have outside over my living room windows. I love to watch them when they stop by, haven't been able to get a picture though.

  5. Love all the photos. And good for Wayne catching the pheasants.

Cardinals are my favorite birds and we have several pair around here. Also the chickadees and our eagles. Fortunately, the eagles leave the smaller birds alone and go for the abundant big fish in the lake.

What kind of camera did you get? It takes fantastic photos.

    1. Casey, you're my inspiration--I love the photos on your blog. I have a Nikon S6300, 10x zoom, 16mp. A couple days after I got it, the Nikon S9300 with 18x zoom went on sale and I was bummed not to have the extra zoom, but for now, to have a small pocket camera, I'm okay.

We've got eagles at the lake and I LOVE when they're around. I haven't managed to get pictures of them up north, but my mom has a couple.

  6. lovely pics, Stacey. I'm not much into birds, besides my chickens (I'll have to dedicate a post to them someday). We don't have much for trees near our house, so all we usually attract are random woodpeckers trying to eat our siding. We've also got a HUGE great horned owl and an eagle that hang around, one (or both) of them are on my poop list for the great chicken massacre of 2012.

It's obvious your family really enjoy your feathered friends.

  7. We do, Delia. Wayne, a hunter himself, even gave strict orders to the neighbors who hunt behind our pasture that they're not to shoot the pheasants.

Chickens are cute, too. I look forward to your post about them. However, I'd probably like the Great Horned Owl and eagle better. Awesome birds when they're not massacring chickens.

  8. I love watching birds. We have two cardinals building a nest in our bushes in the front of our house. They are gorgeous. Beautiful photos, Stacey. Wayne did a great job, too.

    1. I wish I could see where my cardinal goes to. I've never noticed a female, but maybe soon I'll see one. Thanks for coming by, Sandy! :) Yes, Wayne's very proud of his pictures.
